FAQ by Laura Occhipinti
I keep seeing the same questions again and again about these systems so I thought I would attempt my own FAQ. Please note I did the best I could to answer these questions. We have both of these systems in our home and I would be happy to have anyone over for a taste of water. We did do the remineralization with the RO so you can see if you like how it tastes. Email me at [email protected]
Q: Can I JUST get a whole house filter and not the water softener.
A: YES you can, but you will not be a part of this group rate. This group rate is only for the combo whole house and softener systems.
Q: Where does a Reverse Osmosis system go?
A: The RO system goes in your kitchen, under your sink. It will feed into a separate tap that Passaic Bergen will install at your sink. In most houses the main line for the fridge is underneath the kitchen sink so there would be no additional charge to add RO water to the fridge. In some houses, unfortunately PB can’t even get to the fridge water line because it’s not underneath the sink and there is no access to the water line due to a finished basement with no drop ceiling. There are also times PB will be able to get to the water line but with drilling down into the basement and drilling a hole behind fridge floor to tie in. This is an additional cost. It can be up to $100.00 additional. RO water is for drinking and cooking. It is the purest you can make water.
Q: Where does the whole house filter and softener system go?
A: In your basement.
Q: Why should I get an RO system AND a whole house filter and softener?
A: RO will cover your drinking and cooking water, in your kitchen. The softener and whole house filtration system will take the chemicals out of your bath water and the water you are using when you brush your teeth. Please take the time to google the importance of clean bath water. We do not think about it, but our skin is absorbing chemicals when we bathe. The water softener will also get rid of your hard water so that your appliances will last longer and have less problems.
Q: I read that Reverse Osmosis takes out all the minerals out of the water.
A: This is true, but when you are meeting with PB ask about ADDING remineralization to your water system. Some people like the taste that remineralization provides and some people do not. We (happily) did the remineralization with the RO so email me at [email protected] if you want to come over for a taste. The Alkaline remineralization filter is $110 extra.
Q: Will the whole house filter and water softener system help my skin?
A: I can't say for sure but I do know that MANY residents have told me that their eczema has gotten better and their skin is better. Personally, I had a dry patch of skin on my hands that was perpetually there. Within weeks of getting the system the patch was gone and did not return.

Pricing Transparency
- We, at Glen Rock Group Rate, always ask the service providers/vendors to provide us with a discount that is ABOVE AND BEYOND any of their current offers. If you happen to see another offer (either online, in a newspaper, in a coupon book, etc) please let us know.
- We understand that when an estimate is required, that a service provider/vendor may "pad" that estimate so you are not getting the real % off that we are claiming. Please note that we talk about this concern with EVERY company and we do not move forward with a group rate unless that company assures us they will not submit false estimates. As a customer it is your right to get multiple estimates from a variety of service provider/vendors and we recommend you do so.
